What Causes Salty Taste In The Mouth, Nausea And Upper Abdominal Pain?

Thank you. I experience many changes suddenly. Wake up with salty taste in mouth, get nauseated by coffee in the morning and have surface pain in the belly (?) pancreas area. I am on a healthy diet but I feel (and look) bloated. These symptoms just appeared in the last 3 weeks and they are consistent. I do not eat sugar, hold back on salt in food, drink lots of water during the night as I feel dried out, drink carbonated drinks (tonic.)

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to conditions like severe gastritis and acid reflux. As first-line management, you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated, You might require endoscopy for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
