What Causes Runny Nose, Cough And Rashes All Over The Body?

I have common cold symptoms, like malaise, runny nose, coughs, what is strange to me is that my entire body is covered by very big patches of hives except for my face. I started to have some hive first three days ago and then after one day my col symptoms started. I do not have any drug allergies. What is the possible diagnosis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I can understand your concern.

Rashes and hives are different. It is not mentioned about any itching. Usually the skin rash is caused by infections with certain viruses like rubella, measles, varicella and some bacterias such as streptococcus.

Each rash and symptoms vary according to the cause of the disease.
For example, if it is caused by measles virus, the rash appears on the second or third day after the initial symptoms of fever, weakness, runny nose, redness of eyes etc.

Some drugs can cause hives. Generally any drugs can cause reaction. Insects, cosmetics, creams, chemicals can also cause allergic reaction. Hives are usually itchy as it is caused by release of certain chemicals inside the body , it can cause runny nose, breathlessness, fever, dizziness, palpitation, increase in your heart rate etc.

As it is not known from your query what caused the symptoms, you better go to doctor and checked it out.

Hope you understood. Any further clarification, feel free to message.

Regards,
