What Causes Rough Feeling On The Roof Of My Mouth?

I am a 60 year female with rheumatoid arthritis. Approximately 2 weeks ago I felt (with my tongue) a rough spot on the roof of my mouth next to my gums. It was painful and I could not eat on that side for a few days. The pain is gone but now I have a rough feeling on my roof of my entire mouth. The front of my teeth even feel rough or coated. Not sure if it has affected my tongue also. Any suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your history.
The upper part of the palate is rough in all people, this is for a simple functions it has.
The cause of the pains in this particular area is usually a trauma, or a foreign body granuloma.
I would advise you to consult an ENT or Oral Surgeon to get a confirmed diagnosis and get treatment properly, investigate if required to rule out cancer like biopsy or so.
