What Causes Ridged Callus On The Sides Of Toes?

So my toes have been hurting recently and I have noticed an awful odor when I take my shoes off when I get home from work. I noticed in the shower today that the pads of my toes are white-ish with sort of a ridged callus on the sides. What could this be?

Hi,

The callous is a thick hardened area of dead skin occurring on feet. It can be ridged, rough, hard, flaky or patches. Calluses are the result of prolonged pressure, friction, irritation or rubbing. The main reason may be ill-fitting shoes, walking bare foot, walking without socks etc.

Natural home remedies like avoiding ill fitted shoes, soaking the feet in soapy, warm water for 5-10 minutes or soaking the feet in Epsom salt bath, scraping away the callous with a pumice stone with gentle pressure, applying moisturizing creams or lotion etc.

Use of OTC salicylic acid products for 3-10 days continuously may also give relief from callus. If the above mentioned home remedies do not work, then you are advised to see your podiatrist or dermatologist for the treatment as required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

Ridged callus can be due to dryness causing cracking and thus pain. I suggest you to use skin softener for skin softening and thus relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
