What Causes Repeated Dilation With Contractions Before Childbirth?

i been dilated at three for the past couple of weeks and im getting really exhausted because its hard to sleep now days and my contractions come on and off almost everyday. my ob hasn't told me anything about getting induced or anything and im at 39 weeks already. what should i do??

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood your concern. If this is your first pregnancy, these contractions may take sometime to develop into effective ones. Sometimes, a soft cervix may dilate early more so if there is an early descent of the presenting part. If you have already given vaginal birth, the cervix is already yielding and hence the dilatation. You may set into labor anytime. You have to be watchful of leakage of membranes since the cervix has opened. Please maintain proper genital hygiene to avoid infection. You can report to your doctor and ask about the possibility of acceleration of labor. Wish you safe motherhood.
