What Causes Redness And Pain In Left Tonsil?

Hi a little over a month ago I noticed my left tonsil was a little red and hurt at the top of it right by the part that is closest to the inside of my cheek. A doctor prescribed me some clindamycin and it went away for about four weeks and then I felt the same type of pain in the same location. The next doctor has me on amoxicillin and prednisone. It has gotten rid of most of the pain, in fact, I ve only been on amoxicillin a couple of days and I would say it only feels uncomfortable and only when I swallow sometimes or when I put my finger in my mouth and push down on the tonsil, (I know I should probably stop doing that.) I should also say I have large tonsils naturally, and am not experiencing any other symptoms at the moment. I did have an earache for a couple of days. Also, I have had sinus issues most of my life, got a lot of strep as a kid, and currently am on over the counter medication for acid reflux. Just wondering what my next step should be.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
Consult an ENT surgeon get it examined. The cause could be peritonsilar abscess. Again the cause for unilateral enlargement depends an age.

You will be fine. Nothing to worry.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.
