What Causes Reddish Spots On Groin Area?

About a month ago I noticed circular reddish brown spots around my groin area. Sometimes they are more noticeable then other times. Sometimes of the day they look pinkish and then change to a light brown color. There seems to be a few more popping up in and around the same area. I ve been having other health issues as well. I have optic nerve swelling in both eyes and also neurological problems. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I ve had a number of tests done mri, ct scan, blood work. Check for Lyme disease and syphilis. Both negative. They want to do a spinal tap to check for ms.Can this be some kind of bacteria that got into me and is causing all of this? I dealt with chemicals in the past and different kinds of guanos. Maybe something is floating around in my bloodstream that they don t know what to test for. Can it be hiv? I don t know what else to look for. Thank you for any help.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history you are having fungal infection called as tinea cruris.
My treatment advice is -
1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Apply an antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching.
4. Other treatment options are oral fluconazole, itraconazole and terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
