What Causes Rectal Discharge In A Patient Suffering From Constipation?

My husband has been constipated for many years ever since he had colorectal cancer in which the surgeon removed his rectum. Recently he is having leakage from this problem which is annoying to him and is causing him stress. What causes leakage from the rectum area? What can he do to help himself.
