What Causes Radiating Pain In Left-sided Neck And Head In A Mononucleosis Patient?

I am 57, had mono when I was 31; have it again. Have had pain in left side of neck radiating to head for three weeks. Not sure if this pain is related to the mono. My older sister had cancer of the spleen and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (deceased). Is there a correlation between EBV and lymphoma? I.e. Should I be concerned? Other family history: other sister breast cancer, brother colon cancer, father lung cancer.

Hi,

Yes, there is correlation and I would advise you to get a blood count and a blood smear so you can rule out this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
