What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding?

43 yo female. 1 normal pregnancy and delivery 16 years ago. Past periods have been every 28 days, starts light first day and gets increasingly heavier day 2 and 3. Tapers off to spotting day 4 and 5. Last month I started my period and it was strangely light for 3-4 days, then increased for a day and then went back to light flow. But it did not stop. I had a light period for about 3 weeks. Finally stopped last week but woke up this am with my period starting again(light). I have never had any reproductive health problems in the past, my cycles were like clockwork. This new period is worrying me a bit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for quary, I think you should show to gynaecologist she/he will examine you for any local pathology in vagina ,cervix and uterus. and certain blood test u need to do. But most common reason of your problem is your age , you are perimenopausal and this age menstrual problems happens due to hormonal disturbances.
