What Causes Postpartum Itching And Burning Sensation In Vagina?

I am 5 weeks postpartum. This afternoon my left labia minora was extremely itchy so I stratched it. Afterwards, it started burning and still itching ( only on the left side). I went to the bathroom to check and the left labia minora was huge and swollen. It is bright red, and hard and burns. The only relief I have is when icing it. What is this and how can it be treated. I have a postpartum appt in a week.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to bartholinitis or bartholin gland infection. A local examination with gynecologist will be helpful to rule out this. Antibiotics therapy will be needed for this. Irritants like soaps should be avoided to wash the area. Instead you can use saline or warm water for that. Hot towel fomentation will be helpful in relieving pain and swelling. Applying betadine ointment also is good. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
