What Causes Post Meal Somnolence?

I have been falling asleep just after eating without remembering being sleepy. I just wake up about 30-60 minutes later. I notice some of my heart patients have the same complaint. I had a-fib that seems to stopped after 2 ablations and am off all meds except warfarin and expect to be taken off that next month. It happens whether I have been very active and when I have not. So what causes this post meal somnolence? J

Hi,
I read your query and understand your concern
It is known by doctors that 30-60 minutes after meals as stomach gets more blood flow people suffers cerebral hypoperfusion (meaning that less blood and oxygen goes to the brain )
That's why why are suffering those symptoms
There are several factors that can avoid from happening that
First use small meals oftenly
Schedule a carotid ultrasound
Check your cholesterol
Continue warfarine
Hope my answer has helped you
Feel free to ask for any further questions
Best regards
