What Causes Poor Eyesight And Palpitations After Taking Atenolol?
I have been on 100mg of atenolol for 5 years. I went to a heart Doctor since my oxygen dropped below Limits and also could not stay awake, depressed and anxious. The heart Doctor said only tale 25 mg. of Atenolol and for two months I ve had severe heart palpitations and ringing badly in my ears. Is this the cause Of my severe problems, going from 100 right down to 25mg. I also suffer with severe eye problems where I literally lose my eyesight periodically during the day, what is the cause? I really need your help. Thank you.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Atenolol is a beta blocker that functions by reducing heart rate.Being on 100mg for so long might have created some dependence and the reduction in dose may have caused the present symptoms. If 100mg controlled your blood preassure well, 25mg may not yield excellent results.Poor eyesight, ringing ears and palpitation might be signaling raised BP.I will suggest you have your BP controlled again. If higher than normal, you see the Doctor to either take up the dose or you associate it with another antihypertensive like a calcium channel blocker. He may also consider placing you on a low dose aspirin too. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
