What Causes Pimple Like Bumps On Areola And Nipple?
For at least 10 years I have had pimple like bumps on my areola and and on my nipple. I was told it is clogged milk ducts. My son is now 21. I did breast feed, but did not have them before or after. When I squeeze them there is thick white discharge. Recently, when I squeezed my nipple there was a green discharge from 2 locations and in another pimple like bump on my nipple pit was a cloudy milky discharge. Help they are ugly and a pain in the butt. They don't hurt except when I squeeze the nipple. You can contact me YYYY@YYYY
Hello and welcome to HCM, Development of pimples on nipples and areola with milky and green colored discharge are very characteristic of duct ectasia. Duct ectasia is characterized by dilation and infection in the mammary duct. Excision of the duct is the treatment of choice. Excision of the duct removes the site of infection and thus relieves the pain which is felt during pressing. The duct ectasia can lead to rupture of the duct and thus spread of infection in the surrounding tissue.
