Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Petechial Rashes On Forearms Along With Severe Itching?
I had gastric bypass 3 years ago. In the past year I have been having episodes of petechia rashes on my forearms and now experiencing increased bouts of itching all over (mostly on my arms and trunk). Any ideas what could be causing it? I also had rheumatic fever as a child and have a leaky heart valve. Have seen reference to endocarditis with this type of rash. Any thoughts on this? Should I be seeing a dermatologist or other type of doctor first?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your history of Gastric Bypass, Rheumatic Fever with Leaky valves. Now have itching and Petechae over arms and trunk for 1 year. This is mostly not related to Endocarditis as you would get fever with chills and other problems. The itching can be due to dermatitis of some sort. I would advise you to visit a Dermatologist and get a confirmed diagnosis and treatment at the same time consult Cardiologist to see the status of the heart .
