What Causes Pain In Upper Arm And Tingling Sensation In Thumb?
I had a small crick in the right side of my neck which appeared to be causing my upper right arm (outside bicep area) to ache 4-5 days ago with a little tingling and numbness in my right thumb. I went to my chiropractor which the crick was relieved but the tingling and numbness still exists but only in the tip of the thumb. Suggestions?
The pain in right upper arm outside biceps area with tingling and numbness in right thumb is most indicative of a nerve compression in the neck area. You have a history of a small crick in right side of neck for which you have consulted a Chiropractor and the crick has also reduced along but the tingling and numbness remains in the tip of a thumb. The sensation and motor action is the last to recover in most distal part that is away from the body. I hope this too will recover very soon. It would be best to get an MRI of the cervical spine to see for any spasm of muscles, disc prolapse and so on. IF further opinion, management be taken as per its results. Also get thyroid functions done. Take rest and do not do anything that can put strain on neck muscles.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
