Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Little And Ring Finger Radiating To The Forearm?
I have pain in my pinky & ring finger of my right hand & the pain shoots into my forearm. Difficult to make a fist or hold something in that hand at times. I thought it may be Carpal Tunnel but according to what I read the pinky should not be affected.
Carpal tunnel is only one cause of neuropathy which is abnormal function of a nerve.
Neuropathy can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes. Some of the more common causes are--(1)trauma to a nerve (2)diabetes (3)low vitamin b12 or folate levels (4)kidney or liver disease (5)side effect of medication (6)thyroid disease (7)abnormal levels of vitamin b6 (8)neurological conditions such as ms
In some persons the cause is not found. If it continues or worsens, it would be best to see your doctor for an assessment which would consist of physical examination and blood tests
I hope this helps
