What Causes Pain In The Ligament Connecting Shoulder To Breast?

I am on birth control and every month during my supposed period, my breasts get slightly tougher and I experience mild pain. Recently, I have experienced pain just under the ligament that connects the shoulder with the breast. Is this normal and could it be malstagia?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As you are feeling this pain or tenderness only during your menstruation days, it can be attributed to the hormonal effects of menstruation or side effects of birth control pills. It is not a cause of concern and should not be worried about. If it is bothering you a lot, you can take any painkiller that suits you.

However, if you start experiencing this pain even when you are not menstruating and if it is continuous, then you can consider myalgia as a cause.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
