What Causes Pain In The Knuckles Long After Treating Gout?

I have had a very severe gout attack on my middle knuckle and had to have surgery to drain the Chrystal s about 5 years ago. Today the same knuckle has the same symptoms progressing as before. Quite painful. I saw my dr yesterday and he said my acid was very high. Since it went so bad last time, should I go back to the ER now or wait? I am on Colcrys now.

dear sir/madam
it is gouty arthritis symptoms you are experiencing again. since you were started on colchicine you can wait for the drug to take its effect, usually the 2nd episode would be less severe,
i would also recommend ice fomentation
you can wait.
