What Causes Pain In The Arm?

Yesterday, I tripped walking up some steps coming inside and hit my arm pretty hard on the outside door frame. My arm has a consistent dull ache and when something touches the spot I fell on, the pain intensifies. There is a very light, if there at all, bruise, but a knot as well. What causes this and should I be alarmed?

Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of a subcutaneous bleeding, due to the trauma. I recommend having some rest and avoiding a second trauma. If you can not move your arm, an X-ray study of the arm may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
