What Causes Pain In Pelvic Region?

This all started about 2 weeks ago... I Noticed I was getting body aches and tired very quickly and had trouble focusing. I staarting having pains in my pelvic region and my period came 2 weeks early this month. I have not been sexually active for a long time and I do get very painful periods(I am not on the pill) On the friday night I felt a horrible pain in my legs to the point I found it hard to walk and the rest of my body really sore. Constant Diarreah but no vomiting. I went to emergency and they did a pelvic exam, the doctor thought I had an infection in my ovaries so she gave me shot in my bum right away and put me on doxy cycline for a week. Had a horrible reaction to this medication, blurred vision, fatigue, nausea etc. I am finished the meds and just had an ultra sound yesterday. Are these syptoms common for ovarian cysts ? I still feel pain and weakness, i just want to get back to my old self.... any advice would be appreciated :)...stephanie

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry about these symptoms. These symptoms are not exactly suggestive of an ovarian cyst seen the rapid evolution of symptoms and also normal findings on an ultrasound. I will recommend that you follow up with your OBGYN for a more comprehensive evaluation.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more clarifications and information if need be.
