What Causes Pain In One Side Of Face And Tickling Ear?

Hi , I am suffering with a strange pain in one side of my face and odd sensation in my ear like tickly . I have seen ent and had a MRI but they didnt know what it was . I have no ear infection and I have seen my dentist and my teeth and bite are o.k . If I move my jaw from side to side I get a lot of pain in my face ear etc but not moving my jaw up and down . I also feel that side of face keeps swelling . This is really stressing me out especially the odd feeling in my ear . Do you think I have strained the ligaments in my jaw ?I have had this now for ten weeks.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if there is pain on one side of face and it is painful to move the jaw side by side and also if there is earache with no signs of ear infection, the possible cause for the pain seems to be Temporomandibular joint disorder commonly known as TMJ and it is related to the jaw joint..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Orthopantomogram and lateral view x-ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..

As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone, do alternate warm and cold compresses over the side of face and avoid excess mouth opening..
Take a soft diet and massage the muslces gently using round motion of finger tips..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
