What Causes Pain In My Chest?

I keep having this pain in the center of my breast bone going to my back at first I thought it was my back but it is really painful when it hits and can last for an hour then leaves and ive been awaking with pain and was afaid to move from the pain in my chest I am female and im 44 years old

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion your central chest pain seems anxiety related mostly.
But in menopausal age group it is always recommended to rule out cardiac cause for chest pain.
So get done ECG to rule out heart problems.
If ECG is normal than no need to worry much for cardiac cause.
Anxiety related chest discomfort appears more.
Menopause itself cause mood swings and anxiety.
So better to consult psychiatrist and get done counseling sessions. Try to identify stressor in life. And start working on it. You may require anxiolytic drugs. Better to avoid stress iand tension. Be relax and calm.
