What Causes Pain Along A Hysterectomy Surgical Scar?

I had a hysterectomy twenty years ago and since then I ve had bouts with dull and burning pain along my scar also centering on my right lower side. This time it may have started when we were traveling when I had to strain to have a bowel movement.Ive had a specialist tell me I had adhesions but that was ten or fifteen years ago. This time they have been hurting for three weeks. It feels better when I m not on my feet.I weigh 225 so that could be a factor.

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question. I am a practicing anaesthesiologist and pain consultant.
You have undergone hysterectomy around 20 years ago. It might be a possibility that you are having adhesions.
Some times after abdominal surgery, fibrous bands forms between abdominal tissues and organs causing them sticking together, resulting in abdominal pain.
Other possibility can be damage to nerve endings at site of scar or neuroma formation in scar, causing scar tissue pain.
I would like to suggest that, you should consult a surgeon, get ultrasonography abdomen done.
Pain killers like paracetamol and tramadol will help.
