What Causes Ovary To Be Invisible In Ultrasound?

I had an ultrasound and internal ultrasound and my right ovary is no where to be found. But I know I have one. How can this be? The technician kept looked like cropping different spots other than my left ovary like she was measuring sizes of whatever.

Welcome to Health care magic.

1.Its possible some times not to see the ovary when obscured by the excessive bowel gas in pelvic region.
2.In that case trans vaginal scan can be done - which helps in better visualisation of the ovaries.
3.Afollowup scan will help to evaluate the non visualised ovary.
4.In case of partially filled bladder also - ovaries can not be seen.
5.Patient with age also have difficulty to find ovaries.
6. Confirmatory and definitive diagnosis as a final search can be MRI pelvis - good in anatomical delineation.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
