What Causes Occasional Chest Pain While Drinking Water?

Occasionally I get chest pain when drinking water. I drink over 100 ounces of water daily, but only experience the discomfort maybe once a week. I do NOT drink cold water. Also, I take some ginger root liquid daily upon rising to help with what was thought to be haitus hernia, but it does not bother me at all. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, the pain while drinking water is odyngophagia and you need to get upper GI endoscopy to be done. If it comes out to be normal then no need to worry. And take small sips of water with some interval in between.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
