What Causes Numbness On The Lip And Chin After Having Novocaine For Dental Work?

I had dental work done day before yesterday on my bottom back left tooth. The novocaine wore off as is normal. Then yesterday after noon my lip starting feeling strange as though the novocaine was kicking in again. Today and all of yesterday my lip and chin is numb and tingling. What happened?

Hi,

Suggestive of Novocaine induced neurotoxicity. Based on the history you seem to be suffering from perioral numbness apparently caused by the local anesthetic Novocaine.

I advise you to apply a warm compress to help increase blood flow to the affected area, gently massage the affected area, always wash your hands before and after massaging and rinse your mouth with warm salt water.

If symptoms persist then a follow up visit is recommended to rule out
nerve damage or an abscess.
