What Causes Numbness In The Right Arm?

I have lost some feeling in my right hand and arm. I cannot move my wrist upward nor can i pread my fingers out. My thumb and index are the ones most affected.... i have more strength in the other 3 finger and my wrist jut hangs over causing pain. This has happened several times before lasting up to a year and also with the left side later being affected the same way. I have had MRIs of my neck and back and even tho i have 3 herniated disc in my neck and 2 bulging disc in my lower back the doctors still ay that it has nothing to do with my neck or back. I cannot grip a pen to write or move fingers to type which has put me out of work not to mention extremely frustrating when u cant completely dress urself or do most typical things that u normally do daily without dropping it or needing assistance. Any ideas of what may be causing thi would be most appreciated. I am a 42 yr old female if that is needed. Thanks
