What Causes Numbness In The Lower Body After Taking Alcohol?

My husband drinks beer even maybe 7 or 8 and his legs get numb if he falls he cannot get up until the next morning. He is totally numb in both legs has no control of his lower body.....Has always been a drinker but last couple years it has meen happening more and more....Please tell me your opinion .... Thanks
