What Causes Numbness In The Lower Back After A Spinal Fusion Surgery?

I had decompression, fusion surgery at L1-L2 0n Sept. 28th 2016. My lower back now is very numb to touch. I was in a brace for 6 weeks, thought that the brace was causing the numbness, but I ve been out of the brace for 3 weeks and it s still numb to touch. Any thoughts.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a neuropathic symptom. Consult a neurologist and get evaluated. As of now, you can take drugs like neurobion for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
