What Causes Numbness In The Face With Blurred Vision?
I have been having some strange symptoms first for the past few months I have been having numbness in my face. A feeling like when your hands feel after holding a lawnmower for a good amount of time. This morning all of a sudden I was seeing double. Like I had crossed my eyes & my vision was also blurry. I have have like a light show around my eyes at night sometimes when trying to sleep & also awake
The abnormal sensations may be due to neuropathy which refers to abnormal function of the nerves. It can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes.
Some of the more common causes are:
(1)diabetes
(2)thyroid disease
(3)liver or kidney disease
(4)low levels of vitamin b12 or folate
(5)exposure to toxins
(6)autoimmune diseases eg RA, lupus, etc
(7)a side effect of medication
(8)infection
(9)neurological conditions such as MS
In some persons, the exact cause is not known. If the symptoms continue, it would be best to be seen because imaging and blood tests would be needed to find the cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
