What Causes Numbness And Swelling In Foot Caused After Injury?

After crashing my motorcycle, I foot folded over under itself. It s about 35 days later and my foot is still swollen and numb. Especially the 3 middle toes. The ER docs have stitched it up but the healing is going so slow! And yes I m not walking on it and keeping raised up. What s up?! Please help?!

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have numbness and swelling in foot caused after injury. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like soft tissue injury , hematoma , nerve injury or fracture . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , mri along with physical examination . Doctor may give plaster , prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and nerve supplement to strengthen the nerve . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy . For no keep your foot in hot water tub for 15 minutes . Keep it stable and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .

Hi.
I am sorry about your accident and the trauma you went with this injury.
first we have to rule out any fractures of the bones which may have happened during the injury.
if there is no fracture, we can suspect any NERVE compression.
Compression of the nerves supplying to the fingers may lead to numbness and decreased movements of fingers.
so, I suggest you to once go for ELECTROMYOGRAM (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies.
