What Causes Numbness And Peeling Skin On Upper Lip?

My upper left lip has been going numb (like theres a new layer of skin underneathe it) and peeling off and adter some timw, it goes back to normal. Its been going on in more than 3 cycles already. What could be the cause? Other observations: (might be of help) 1. nailplate also getting shorter (i can peel off dry skin under my nails) 2. Gingiva on upper right side (attached gingiva) peels off once in a while. (Localized area just above 2nd premolar and 1st molar) Pls help diagnose. Thanks.

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of numbness and peeling of skin on upper lip which seems mainly due to chapped lip, which occurs due to licking, biting and sucking of lips as this will remove the natural covering of the skin which causes a problem. Nutritional deficiency sometimes becomes an additional factor which leads to numbness as well.

I would like to suggest you to stop licking your lips as it is a natural tendency of some people, drink lots of water, use mild steroid cream, maintain personal hygiene and for nutritional deficiency add lots of green vegetables and fruits to your diet. Visit dermatologist once if symptoms keep on persisting and start treatment accordingly.
