What Causes Nausea And Sore Throat While On Invisalign Treatment?

2weeks into my Invisalign treatment I started having persistent nausea and a constant sore throat. I went to the dr thinking I has a virus and had blood test run. I m a very allergic person so I thought the constant sore throat was an allergy even though I never had this problem ever. I also have swollen lymph nodes. It s been 3 weeks and I m still ill constantly sweating with a sore throat and nausea. Never thinking it could be the Invisalign braces. I have also had constipation for abot 3 weeks also.all these bizarre symptoms happened at the same time. Now I truly feel thlie Invisalign braces could be causing me these problems. What do you think? I was fine prior to invisaligns. I am with a very sensitive person with a lot of allergies

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms nausea and sore throat with a history of having constipation and having Invisalign braces placed, there seems that nausea and sore throat is related to constipation and not placement of Invisalign and sore throat can be due to acid reflux and nausea occurs due to indigestion as well as sore throat also cause nauseating feeling..

The chances of allergy to dental material used in the invisaligner are very rare and I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and for constipation laxatives and stool softeners can be advised to you along with an antacid..
If after taking these medications there is improvement then the problem was due to digestive problem.

In case if still there is no resolution then consulting your Orthodontist and getting evaluated for allergic reaction to dental material has to be done..

As of now you can do warm saline gargles for sore throat relief..
Take a light diet and do moderate work and drink luke warm water as it can help in relieving constipation to some extent until medical treatment is started..
