Hello, I am a 20 year old girl with a history of food allergies/intolerances, and was recently treated (currently) for Candida overgrowth. I was put on a relatively low sugar/carb diet and have been taking powdered Nystatin 3X a day. I was also just diagnosed with Hashimoto s thyroiditis. I eat completely grain, dairy, legume, and nightshade free, as well as low FODMAP. After the first few weeks of antifungal treatment (and the initial die-off period) I felt the best I ve felt in months! ....For about a week. This past week I ve steadily been getting worse again-- nausea and pain when eating, consitipation, and terrible mood swings. I m still on the nystatin and really haven t made any big changes in diet this past week, with the exception of eating slightly more coconut than usual. (Food allergies have been ruled out for these foods, as I ve been IgE and IgG tested for all that I m currently eating). I ve also started to notice huge amounts of white flakes in the stool I can pass. I have been to South Africa and Europe recently so my immediate (extreme) thought was a parasite... But perhaps the more likely cause is white flecks due to low bile production? Candida die off? Malabsorption of fats, etc? I suspect that the flecks may also just be flakes of coconut that I haven t digested. I have a doctor s appointment scheduled for 2 months from now, but is any of this concerning enough that I should go in sooner? And when I do.. What tests should I request?
