What Causes Mood Swings, Depression And Anxiety?

i am in the works of finding a primary doctor but i would like to have a few issues address now. i had to children back to back. they are 10 months a 10 days apart. i was 6 weeks pp when i found out i was pregnant with my second child. i am now a yr pp and i have been noticing a few things that dont add up. I am overly moody, I get very negatively emotional very quickly and it lasts for days, i wouldnt say depressed but that is the only word i can describe it as. Im anxious and fidgety. Very foggy headed and easily forgetful. I cut my hair to my chin 3-4 months ago, and it is still at that length. where as before i got pregnant with my first child, my hair would have been past my shoulder. My nails are extremely flimsy and brittle, and again they were the opposite of that before i conceived my first child. And my weight has not changed at all. Ive cut out the foods that Ive noticed cause my weigh gain, im strictly on a water in take, and i do look impact exercises when i can, due to other issues with my back, with all that being said ive lost a total of about 3-4 pounds. just at a glance of these symptoms, what would be a prognosis? What should I ask my primary doctor to test for, and look for specifically to see if there is a underlying issue that is causing these symptoms?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It looks like you are over-burdened with the cares of life & have neglected yourself a lot. You look stressed up and week. You are suggested to eat nutritious food, fruits and veggies and not to stay on water diet. Ill health is one of the leading causes of depression & you need to visit ER for a general health check up(get all required investigations done). Other causes that can lead to mood swings and depressions are painful/hurting events in life, conflict, death or separation from a loved one. Stay away from addiction if any, drugs also cause depression. Thinning of nails & their becoming brittle, slow hair growth is indication of calcium deficiency, take vitamin supplements with minerals(iron, zinc, magnesium) and folic acid. Do regular exercise & stay happy, avoid events or people who cause your discomfort or hurt, take adequate sleep.

Hope I have answered your query.
