What Causes Missed Period Post Protected Sex?

I had my period on the 1st of September 2016 had unprotected sex on the with of September and my next period was on the 28th of September. Had protectected sex on the with of October and my period came on the with of October. Been waiting for my next period since 20th of November and it is 8 days late. Could I be pregnant? even though I was treated for malaria and allergies around 7th to 12th of November.

Hi,

If you had your period at the end of October and it was normal (normal length of time and intensity) and was not sexually active after this point, then it is unlikely that you are pregnant. The period can sometimes be delayed, it may not indicate that there is any significant problem present.

In some cases, delayed period can be due to:

(1) emotional stress or illness

(2) side effect of hormonal medication

(3) physical illness

(4) high levels of a hormone called prolactin

(5) excess physical activity

(6) abnormal levels of the thyroid hormone

(7) inadequate diet

(8) a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome
