My wife keep getting this weird thing happen to her the day after drinking, where she feels like she s forgetting to breathe and she cant catch her breathe. She feels like suffocating or choking. In addition, she finds it hard to sleep at night and keeps hearing voices telling her all sorts of unrelated things every other night. She s awake as late as 4am most nights. I have been pleading with her to seek medical help but she does not want to. Appreciate your expert advice please. Many thanks, Moses
Very likely your wife is having these symptoms due to alcohol use. It is common for patients using alcohol to get anxiety which shows with shortness of breath and sometimes also with difficulty to sleep. Hallucinations (hearing voices) are also common with alcohol use.
She will need to see a doctor and have proper medical approach to help with withdrawal symptoms as well. If a patient uses alcohol for a while, when not using it anymore can have worsening of the symptoms with hallucinations and anxiety being worse.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
