What Causes Lump On The Stomach With A History Of Rectal Cancer?

I had rectal cancer, and had my rectum removed. I have gone through the treatments of chemo and radiation, and have now been told that I am cancer free. My difficulty is I have develop a large lump on my stoma, similar to what a hernia may be. I am scheduled to see my surgeon this week. Please advise me of any concerns I should have concerning this?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A lump at the site of stoma can be due to prolapse of the intestinal loops or it could be due to metastasis or recurrence of tumor.
A clinical assessment of the stoma site and the intestinal loops is required.
I suggest you to consult your treating surgeon for clinical assessment and thus management of the condition.
