What Causes Lump In Breast Along With Pain While Touching?

I hear cancer comes with weight loss, I have not had any weight loss at all. I am 71. One year ago I could feel a tiny lump in my breast, was sometimes painful when touched. Doc had me do a mammogram and nothing was found. It still hurts a little on and off when touched, the lump is a little larger, but is now flat instead of round. Very rarely I get pain in my arm pit, but I assume it is arthritis since the whole shoulder joint sometimes hurts. There is no family history of breast cancer. What do you think?

General Surgeon 's  Response
hi.

noted history of breast lump associated with pain/tenderness. it is best if you consult with a doctor, preferably a general surgeon, for physical examination and clinical evaluation. it may be fibrocystic changes, which are benign breast lesions, sometimes resolving spontaneously, causing breast pain/tenderness, especially during hormonal changes in the body. combined studies of breast ultrasound and mammography is recommended for further clinical evaluation. management (medical and/or surgical if indications are found) will be directed accordingly.

hope this helps.

good day!!
