Hi Doc, I am 51 yrs, male weighing 103kgs and 188cm height and have maintained a normal health until now. From the last four days I am having a severe lower back pain with the muscles contracting on every move I make. The pain is concentrated slightly above the hip at the back lower lumbar region . Hope I have explained well myself. Could you help me to acertain what this problem can be as I am really worried. Thanks KRISHNAN

considering your height and complaints, the pain most commonly appears due to an intervertebral instability inbetween your lumbar vertebraes, which could be a dislocation or an irritation of nerve root, or some chronic inflamation. I suggest an MRI lateral lumbar spine here, it will may the problem more clear. Consult an orthopedician after an MRI and avoid heavy weight lifing and rigorous exercise till a we have a diagnosis. A pain killer like tab voveron 75 mg as required can relieve the pain.
