The pain is due to pulling sensation of the peritoneum by the hernia which occurs whenever you stand erect and start your day and it goes off when you lie down due to release of the pressure exerted by the hernial contents. However, it could be diagnosed only by a clinical examination with related investigations, and for that I would advise you to fix an appointment with a general surgeon for further management. Till that, you could go for an anti inflammatory drug along with a proton pump inhibitor.
