Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

The ending of a relationship with someone you loved, especially if you still have feelings for them, certainly can affect your mood and psychology and feelings about sex.

When a loving relationship ends, there is a period of grieving that takes place. There is no correct amount of time that it takes to get over someone, and there's also absolutely nothing that can be done to help you get past those feelings. It is natural to not feel attraction or desire for someone if you are still in love with someone else. You also probably react with pain and sadness thinking about the old romantic sexual times with your former partner.

So in summary, of course psychological impact, especially in women, is a very important part of desire and libido. You have probably developed a negative association between lovemaking and sad thoughts about your ex-boyfriend. It would be difficult for anyone to become aroused and enjoy sex if it makes them think about the previous trauma.

I have a feeling that things will be different eventually once you fall in love with someone else. That may take time, sometimes a very long time, and that is okay and normal. Do not let your friends or anyone else tell you that you should get over it already, grieving takes a different amount of time in different people.

So I hope you feel better soon, and that I was able to answer your question today and my advice was helpful.

Best wishes, Dr. Brown
