What Causes Lightheadedness And Blurred Vision After Quitting Smoking?

I am 53 years of age, am 5 7 and weigh 206 lbs have a fairly sedentary lifestyle and have only very recently stopped smoking (new year). I was seeing a doctor last year who was investigating possibility of my having high blood pressure but I did not follow this up. Just before Christmas this last year I purchased a home Blood pressure monitor and today got it out to take a measurement as in the last fdew days have been feeling a bit light headed and also experiencing some blurring in my vision. The reading i have taken suggests i might i have problem but would wlecome your advice on this. The reading is 171/99 - can you advise what i should do?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having headache and blurred vision.
Since the measurement of blood pressure is high well above the normal range, increased blood pressure is probably responsible for your symptoms.
Hence this requires treatment for your elevated blood pressure by the use of antihypertensive.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
