What Causes Light Bleeding Again After A Week?

Hi I started my periods last Wednesday and had protected sex while in periods on second day and then they became much less. Third day had protected sex again periods were much less then they stopped totally. Since one day I got faint brown spotting and today there is light bleeding and slight lower abdominal pain. Is this normal? It s first time this is happening. Thanks.

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. I have gone through your query and would like to offer some information. The safest period to have intercourse during the whole cycle is during menstruation, if the enhanced risk of infection is put aside. The most likely cause of the brownish discharge is due to the release of the blood collected in the uterus. However, if pain does not subside with an uterine anti-spasmodic, please see a specialist to exclude infection and other causes. Please maintain proper genital hygiene. Take care.
