What Causes Light And Short Periods?

My periods are typically pretty moderate and last 6-8 days with the peak of my heaviest bleeding within the first 3 days and then slows down. But this past period was light and only lasted 4 days. How could this be? Ironically I started birth control the Sunday after my period started but even before I started it my period is light. What is causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
i had gone through your question and i can understand your concern
irregular and scanty periods warrants detailed evaluation
this could be due to hormonal imbalance or PCOD
This can be related to stress and anxiety or diet

in my opinion you should consult a gynaecologist for clinical examination and a battery of tests like blood for hemoglobin CBC liver and thyroid function test as well as nutritional assessment

have multivitamins supplements
more of fresh fruits and vegetables
avoid smoking and alcohol

Hope thus helping you
best wishes
