Jack runs a company and is constantly under pressure. When he went to the doctor recently, he was advised to engage in aerobic exercises that would make his heart pump faster and therefore function more efficiently. Which disease was he most likely diagnosed with?
Hi welcome to HCM. Stress related impaired function of the heart would cause CAD-coronary artery disease which leads to impaired blood flow to heart muscle due to ischemia.I advise you to have a baseline ecg and a 2 dimensional echo to rule out any regional wall motion abnormalities secondary to CAD.Restrict the intake of coffee and alcohol.Keep your blood pressure under 130/80 mm of Hg.Drugs like inotropic agents will help the heart to pump effectively and efficiently.Consult your cardiologist for further care. Thank you.
