General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,thanks for your question
In disc prolapse or herniation the herniated portion causes the compression of the nerve roots that flow from spinal cord to your lower limbs. The nerve compression causes radicular Ain they radiates as shooting pain in lower limbs....
In acute phase we advice for bed rest and medication
After acute phase along with medication extension excercise is important that reduces your pain strengthen your mulaes and thus reduce the dose of your medication.

Please again consult your treating doctor ask him for the physiotherapy to develop your muscles strength. And in turn that will help you reduce your medicines.
It's a slow process but once you are determine d you will get through

Thankyou
