What Causes Itchy Vaginal Skin Post Menses?

this is the first time this has happened but ever since my last period ended about three days ago, i have been experiencing burning and major itching down there. not really inside my vagina but mostly the skin around it.. No swelling or pain at all, and no discharge at all. I have no other symptoms, just the itchy and burning skin. I am a very healthy and active 25 year old female, no kids.

Hi,
Sometimes, when you use tampons or sanitary napkins for a longer period, due to sweating and lack of ventilation, mild infection/irritation can creep in and around the vagina, along the groins etc. This usually gets relieved with proper hygiene and ventilation. Since you also have burning, you may need to have a swab test and urinalysis to exclude infection. Local applications usually help in curing mild vaginitis, while urine infections and severe vaginitis need systemic treatment. Avoid tampons and go for sanitary pads in future. Hope this helps.
