What Causes Itchy Rash On Face And Excessive Hair Loss After Shampooing?

Last week my daughter age 40 developed a rash on face (cheeks) that was not raised but did itch and has since gone away. Today after shampooing, she had excessive loss of hair, more than normal. Are these symptoms that she should be concerned about. What type of tests should she have to eliminate thyroid or any other problem that this may entail.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The rash on face may be caused by allergies and doesn't seem much related to hair fall. She should check for iron deficiency anemia and thyroid hormones T3 T4 and TSH. She should get further evaluated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
